The Story

The year is 1924. In the fictional European kingdom of Sauville, a Japanese exchange student named Kazuya Kujo arrives at the prestigious Saint Marguerite Academy, where ghost stories and dark legends follow him like shadows. Searching the school's towering library one afternoon, he discovers something extraordinary at the very top — a miniature garden, and in it, a girl.

Victorique de Blois looks like a living porcelain doll: tiny, imperious, eternally bored. She is also a genius of terrifying precision, capable of reconstructing the truth of any mystery from what she calls "the chaos of information" — scattered fragments that, to her, resolve instantly into perfect clarity.

Together, Kujo and Victorique begin solving impossible cases — shipboard murders, village curses, vanishing illusionists — each whodunit more dangerous than the last. But threading through every mystery is a darker, larger conspiracy tied directly to Victorique's origins, her imprisoned mother, and the secret war brewing between European intelligence agencies.

Gosick rewards mystery anime fans who enjoy cerebral puzzle-solving wrapped in rich period atmosphere and genuine emotional stakes — a series that earns its gothic grandeur.
